How much does a website cost in 2026?
No games and no vague "it depends". Here is what moves the number, and how to know you are paying for value instead of mystery.
Ask ten agencies what a website costs and you will get ten dodges. The honest answer is that price tracks the job, and the job is easy to describe once you know what to look at. Let us make it plain.
What actually drives the price
- How many pages, and how custom. A focused site of a handful of pages costs less than a multi page build with service pages and city pages. A template costs less than a design shaped around how your customers decide.
- Whether search is built in. A site that is meant to rank needs the structure, content and schema to do it. That is real work, and it is the work that pays you back in customers.
- Integrations. Booking, payments, a client portal, a chatbot that answers your phones. Each is a tool, and tools take building.
- Content. Words and images that sell take time. If you supply them, you save. If we write them, that is part of the quote.
Honest ranges
Most builds land between a few thousand for a focused business site and more for a multi page SEO build with a portal. The right number depends on the four things above, not on how the day is going. What never changes is this: you get a written fixed quote before anything starts, so the number you approve is the number you pay.
What you should never pay for
- Being held hostage. Your code, content, domain and accounts are yours from day one. Anyone who keeps them to keep you is charging you for a cage.
- A page ransom. Paying a fee every time you want to change a sentence is a business model, not a feature.
- Mystery retainers. A monthly charge with no defined work is a subscription to nothing. Care plans should be optional, clear and cancellable any time.
Why we quote fixed
A fixed quote puts the risk on us, where it belongs. It forces us to understand the job before we start, and it means you can plan. If the scope grows, we tell you before it costs you, in writing. No surprises on the invoice.
The cheapest website is the one that brings in customers, at any price. The most expensive is the pretty one nobody finds. If you want to know what your specific project would cost, the fastest route is a free audit: we look at your site and your search visibility and tell you what a rebuild is worth before you spend a dollar.
